Ocean City, NJ is giving its boardwalk a facelift to the tune of 68,000 board-feet of ipe wood, which grows in the Amazon rainforest. Ocean City officials have gone out of their way to ensure the wood they purchase is certified by the FSC, but staunch environmentalists say any wood taken from the rainforest is wrong, whether it’s certified or not.
